Think Clean, Go Green!
Sustainable Nantucket is excited to bring Jessica Georges and Bettie the Bus of Green Road Refill (www.greenroadrefill.com) over from Cape Cod to help you ditch the plastic and live a more environmentally friendly life. Bettie the Bus is a converted school bus full of household and personal products in bulk, so save your containers from the dump and refill them on April 6th! The idea is simple - it’s a mobile bulk refill shop that travels from town to town. You buy one of our refillable bottles (or bring your own) and fill up with everything from all natural shampoo and lotions to household cleaning products – and they are all eco-friendly! Additionally, they offer other earth-friendly products from stainless steel straws to bamboo toothbrushes, kitchen gadgets, alternatives to plastic wrap, and eco conscious cleaning supplies such as mops, brooms and sponges. A portion of all sales will be donated to Sustainable Nantucket to help further our mission to improve the local food system on Nantucket and support our programs: Farm to School, the Community Farm Institute and the Farmers and Artisans Market. Thank you to our partners 100 Mile Makers and Nantucket Eco Group.

Sustainability Talk with Jessica Georges at the Nantucket Atheneum
Saturday, April 6 |4:00pm – 5:00pm | Nantucket Atheneum | 1 India Street | FREE
Jess Georges, the founder of Green Road Refill, will be speaking about simple ways we can steer ourselves in the direction of reducing our plastic footprint. The current plastic problem is daunting - from the great pacific garbage patch to current day recycling challenges. This one hour talk will focus on shifting our consciousness into a hopeful one - and propelling that hope into taking action! Jess believes that small individual steps toward a greener life can make a big difference in the health of our island and our planet.
Sustainable Nantucket is cultivating a healthy Nantucket by building a more locally-based and self-reliant food system, and a stronger island economy.
