Science Speaker Series - Dr. Phil Duffy
Each summer, the Maria Mitchell Association hosts scientists and research experts on a wide variety of scientific topics. This week's talk is on ?What's Next for Climate Change in a World of 'Alternative Facts'? with Dr. Phil Duffy from the Woods Hole Research Center. How can we continue to make progress on climate change when the US federal government abdicates its responsibility to address the issue? Dr. Duffy, President and Executive Director of the Woods Hole Research Center, will discuss various vehicles for making progress in the US, as well as international mechanisms, principally the United Nations and the Paris Climate Agreement. Learn how each of these groups can help to maintain progress on climate change, and what the long-term prospects are for success ? as well as consequences of failure.
