• Nantucket Noel Dec. 1- Jan. 2, 2018

  • Now in its 44th year, Christmas Stroll Weekend  (Dec. 1-3) is an enchanting, magical tribute to the wonderment of bygone Christmases. You don't need a time machine to relive those priceless childhood memories.  It's all here! At noon on Saturday, the Jolly Man in Red arrives at the dock via Coast Guard vessel-- his nautical "sleigh"--and is escorted up Straight Wharf by the Town Crier to board a vintage whale boat. Teeming crowds accompany Santa as he parades up cobblestoned Main Street and across Centre Street to the historic Jared Coffin House; there, by a blazing fireplace, he meets with eager children, lists in hand. At the top of Main Street, the Magical Talking Tree (so mysterious!) entertains children of all ages, while Victorian carolers, festively decorated shop windows, and a lively Scavenger Hunt add to the scenic backdrop of the event. Holiday craft shows, exhibitions and performances – including the ever-popular Christmas House Tour on Friday evening – round out the festivities. Don't miss the 25th Annual Festival of Trees running throughout December at the Whaling Museum, which is transformed into a veritable winter wonderland. "Stroll" is a truly memorable experience, and sets the mood for a magical holiday season....it's nautical and nice!

Holiday festivities begin the day after Thanksgiving with the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Community Caroling Ceremony. Islanders and visitors alike gather at the top of Main Street at dusk to watch over 100 Christmas trees magically come alive in a blaze of colored light as the Town Crier leads the Countdown. Exuberant caroling fills the air, led by  the Accidentals & Naturals, Nantucket High School's renowned youth choir. School children, youth groups and non-profit organizations join with island businesses to decorate the in-Town trees in time for Christmas Stroll Weekend.

When you arrive on island, please visit the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce at Zero Main Street, second floor (above Cape Cod Five Bank) for a copy of the 2018 Official Stroll Program available in late November. A merchandise and information table will also be set up outside our building on Stroll Saturday from 9-3 PM.
