  • Nantucket Cultural District Releases New Logo, Website, and Event Calendar Nantucket’s Interactive Cultural Event Calendar

The Nantucket Cultural District announced today the release of its new website featuring an interactive event calendar beginning July 15. It spotlights cultural experiences offered by over 40 islandwide non-profits while providing easy access for culture-seekers to find them. Areas of interest include the performing arts, science and history lectures, nature walks, festivals, art classes and culinary workshops. The interactive hub also simplifies attendance with direct links to the host non-profit for ticket purchases or registrations.

This new ticketing initiative is the result of The Nantucket Cultural Programming Study, an eight-month examination of 66 local organizations and interviews with 14 leaders from Nantucket’s nonprofit community. It examined the island’s cultural landscape and revealed opportunities for collaboration and promotion. The research—conducted by economic consultants at EBP and supported by ReMain Nantucket—offered a greater understanding of when and what type of cultural programming is offered, and recommendations including options for ticketing and event marketing.

“My predecessor, Janet Schulte, recognized the need for a centralized location to market our many cultural organizations and the fantastic work that they do in creating programs and events that not only engages our local community, but also attracts visitors from far and wide. It is an honor to be a part of the launch of this great new platform and I am certain that the benefits will be immeasurable.”

“Cultural experiences are an essential part of keeping the community healthy which is why we supported the study and its most impactful recommendation.” said Virna Gonzalez, ReMain Nantucket program and marketing manager. “We hope to see more people connect to non-profit experiences in more ways and thoroughly enjoy themselves while supporting our community.”

The new online cultural event calendar is accessible at a downtown kiosk for local foot traffic. Patrons can walk up, discover activities, scan QR codes on their mobile device then take their ticketing information with them. The kiosk is located inside the Thomas Macy Warehouse at 12 Straight Wharf.
