  • Letter from Chris Gagnier, Chair of the Fairwinds Board of Directors.

    To our partners:

We have important news to share with you. After nearly seven years as Fairwinds’ Executive Director, Tess de Alberdi will be stepping down from that role at the end of August, 2020. Though we are delighted for her as she seeks new opportunities that will launch her into the next phase of her career, we are sorry to see her go. Her service to Fairwinds has been vital in getting the agency where it is today.

Tess took over the executive directorship of Nantucket Family and Children’s Services in 2014 as the agency was about to close its doors. Her determination and hard work helped ensure that, not only did the oldest behavioral health agency on the island stay open, but it came back stronger than ever. During her tenure, the agency was renamed Fairwinds—Nantucket’s Counseling Center, but one thing has never changed: we never
turn away anyone seeking treatment, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Tess has remained staunchly true to this mission throughout her time at Fairwinds. Rest assured that business will continue uninterrupted. We will be hiring an interim ED while we conduct a search for the right person to take the helm at Fairwinds. Though Tess will be difficult to replace, we are confident that the powerful mission of our agency will attract just the right person to lead us through the next decade.

Please feel free to reach out to me any time if you have any questions or would like to discuss Fairwinds in greater detail.
