  • McCausland Foundation Announces Nantucket Community Health Challenge Grant

    June 10, 2020

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

McCausland Foundation announces Nantucket Community Health Challenge Grant

The Community Foundation for Nantucket is pleased to announce that a McCausland Foundation grant to the Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief has been awarded in support of Community Health.

This challenge grant for $250,000 aligns with existing McCausland Foundation donations to entities that focus on mental health and social and emotional learning such as child counseling and other counseling services, parental education, and vulnerable youth learning. CFN's Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief is the correct vehicle to deliver support to the Nantucket community members in need during this pandemic. This Community Health focus would encompass psychiatric services, counseling, women's security, addiction, child services and more. These are all increased needs arising from the uncertainties of the pandemic, but these are also needs that have persisted on the island for many years and remain underserved.

"At this emotionally and financially stressful time for year-round island residents, supporting Community Health in its broadest sense is the appropriate focus for the McCausland Foundation", said Peter McCausland. "We hope others believe as we do and will help match our gift."

Since March, the Community Foundation has been actively responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief, the Foundation has awarded over $620,000 in emergency relief grants. These grants reflect the Foundation’s commitment to provide operational assistance to our Island’s nonprofit human service providers.

“As this crisis continues to impact Nantucket, it has become clear just how important the Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief is. Our grant making has become a vital resource to our human service organizations and the year-round community. The McCausland Foundation’s challenge will allow for the Foundation to direct funds specifically to support the Community Health of Nantucket to help our Island’s most vulnerable residents.” Geoff Verney, CFN Board President.
