Opening for the Season with "A Change of Season"

Red-wing blackbirds, budding pussy willows, blooming snow drops and early daffodils; in celebration of the longer days of spring, the Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) is pleased to announce an exhibition entitled A Change of Season will be on display in the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Gallery at 19 Washington Street from Friday, March 25 -  April 15. The gallery will be open Tuesday – Saturday 11 AM – 5 PM (Closed Sundays & Mondays until the end of May).

“As we all await the coming of spring on the island, AAN decided to kick off the season earlier than usual with an exhibition opened to all island artists, and determined A Change of Season was a timely title. This show will give visitors the chance to view new works completed during the off-season, and we’re pleased to offer it to community members and not just our artist membership,” said AAN artistic director Robert Frazier.

This open show is free for all island participates, who may drop off framed art (with a back wire) - to be hung for sale - on Tuesday, March 22 from 10 AM – 5 PM at 19 Washington St. “Each artist has been invited to bring in two works, and we are looking forward to a robust and exciting season in the gallery,” added Frazier.

“The AAN includes close to three hundred local artist members who participate throughout the year in online as well as gallery exhibitions, and we are grateful they continue to help make our award-winning AAN gallery (“Best Of” from I&M, and Best New England Gallery, Yankee Magazine) one of the most comprehensive venues for local art. Their works include everything from jewelry, oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics, sculptures, mixed media, photographs, and some textiles,” said AAN gallery director Peter J. Greenhalgh.

A Change of Season will be on display from Friday March 25 – April 15, at the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, located at 19 Washington Street, a stone’s throw from Main Street in the heart of Nantucket’s Cultural District. Open Tuesday – Saturday, 11 A.M. – 5 P.M. (Closed Sundays & Mondays until the end of May).
