LIGHTSHIP BASKET MUSEUM ANNOUNCES THOMAS WATKINS AS NEW EXECUTIVE
    DIRECTOR TO LEAD MUSEUM

Nantucket, MA, February 3, 2020 – Thomas Watkins has been hired to lead the Lightship Basket
Museum as the museum enters its 20 th year. Watkins was born and raised in the Finger Lakes region of
New York State. He graduated from LeMoyne College in Syracuse and owned and operated a small
business for nearly 20 years in his hometown. “Growing up in a region known for wineries, history, art and
tourism blended with his business experience make him an ideal person to lead the museum as we enter
our 20 th year,” said Daryl Westbrook, Board President.

Tom, Stephanie and their Havanese dog, Jeter, have finally realized their dream of living on Nantucket. “I
am excited to join the museum staff; to contribute to the rich history and culture of the island, and to find
ways to energize and bring greater attention to the artistry of lightship baskets,” said Watkins.
