    Artists Association of Nantucket
Hosts first 2020 Exhibition at the Visual Arts Center (VAC):
    Red-Hot Valentine’s Small Works Exhibition

Although we’re in the throes of the off-season—the harbor holds only a few boats, the beaches
are wind-swept and empty, and the wisps of smoke from cozy fireplaces abound, the Artists
    Association of Nantucket
(AAN) is delighted to announce the opening of a special February
week-long exhibition, Valentine’s Small Works with a celebratory, sweet-treats reception on
Friday, February 7, 4 - 7 P.M. at the Visual Arts Center (VAC) on 24 Amelia Drive.

This off season exhibition will showcase affordable art by our local artist members and feature
amusing, feisty, and humorous small works—perhaps with some hearts and warm cheerful red
works — along with photographs and unique ceramics. The exhibition will be on display at the
    VAC February 7–14, 9 A.M. – 5 P.M. (Closed Sunday February 9).

“This will be our ninth consecutive year hosting a festive St. Valentine’s exhibition, and we are
excited to offer this imaginative and inviting show during the cold dark days of a Nantucket
winter,” said AAN gallery manager Peter J. Greenhalgh. Because our Washington St. gallery
is closed for the season, the exhibition is taking place at the Visual Arts Center, 24 Amelia
    Drive.

“Each artist has been asked to bring in three pieces of art and we are expecting a strong selection,
which typically includes some impressive surprises. This first exhibition is a great reason to get
out of the house, come to the VAC, and enjoy the diverse art created by our talented artists,” said
    AAN artistic director Bobby Frazier.

“The Valentine’s Small Works exhibition is a celebration of the warm colors of this mid-month
holiday, and we are confident everyone will find the perfect valentine gift for that special
someone in their lives, and gift certificates are always a welcomed option,” added Greenhalgh.

AAN is grateful to 45 Surfside Bakery & Café for their sweet treats for the opening reception.

The St. Valentines exhibition Valentine’s Small Works will be on display from February 7-14,
    at the Visual Arts Center (VAC), 24 Amelia Drive. Hours: Monday–Friday 9 A.M. – 5 P.M.
    Saturday, Feb. 8, 11 A.M. –4 P.M. (Closed Sunday, February 9)
