Artists Association of Nantucket
Hosts Valentine Heart 2 Heart Exhibition
at the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery
Although we’re in the throes of the off-season—the harbor is quiet, the beaches are wind-swept and empty, and wisps of smoke from cozy fireplaces abound, the Artists Association of Nantucket
(AAN) is delighted to announce the opening of a special two-week exhibition, Heart 2 Heart,
with the door unlocking on Friday, January 28, at the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington Street.
This Valentine exhibition will showcase affordable art by our local artist members and feature witty, spirited, and humorous works—perhaps with some hearts and warm cheerful red tones, along with photographs and unique ceramics.
“This will be our eleventh consecutive year presenting a festive St. Valentine’s exhibition, and we are excited to offer this imaginative and inviting show during the cold dark days of a Nantucket winter,” said AAN gallery director Peter J. Greenhalgh
. Covid protocols will be followed for the public’s safety, and masks are required to enter our AAN properties.
“Each artist has been asked to bring in three pieces of art and we are expecting a strong selection, which typically includes some impressive surprises. This first 2022 exhibition is a great reason to get out of the house, come to the gallery, and enjoy the diverse art created by our talented artists,” said AAN artistic director & curator Bobby Frazier.
“We are delighted to continue our tradition of hosting a Valentines show, which we think of as a celebration of the warm colors of this mid-month holiday, and we believe everyone will find that perfect valentine gift for the special people in their lives,” said AAN executive director Courtney Bridges.
“And remember gift certificates are always a welcomed option.”
The St. Valentines exhibition Heart 2 Heart
will be on display from January 28 – February 12, at the Cecelia Joyce & Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington Street,
in the heart of Nantucket’s Cultural District, a stone’s throw from Main Street. The gallery will be open Monday–Friday 10 A.M.–5 P.M., closed 2 – 2:30.
