Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) is pleased to announce that art from the popular and cautiously crafted late-season fundraiser will be available for a day of in-person viewing on Sunday October 11 at Bartlett’s Farm, 33 Bartlett Farm Road, from 10 AM – 4 PM. Works may be purchased Online beginning at that time.

Due to Coivd19, there are only twenty-five people allowed into the greenhouse at one time, but it is free and open to the public. Face coverings must be worn and strict practices will be followed to keep guests and staff safe.

“Typically during the week leading up to the long Columbus Day weekend, artists are out and about painting around the island, however this year we’ve allowed the more than 70 participating AAN artists longer to prepare since the auction will be strictly an Online one,” said AAN executive director, Courtney Bridges. The Online auction will run from Sunday, October 11 at 10 AM through Wednesday, October 14 until 4 PM.

“All work in the Wet Paint Coming And Going event is recently finished and will consist of paintings, mixed media, ceramics, woodcarvings, and photography,” added Bridges. No in-person bidding will be accepted at Bartlett’s Farm, although there will be digital links to scan next to the works of art.
“As guests participate in the online auction, they will also notice there is a buy-it-now component—where pieces may be purchased outright—if for instance they found a favorite artist’s work, or didn’t have time to go back online,” said AAN artistic director Robert Frazier.

“We’ve been working diligently to sort out a safe way to offer our AAN supporters and community members this popular art event, and now more than ever the organization and our local artist members would be grateful for your on-going support,” added Frazier.

We are also thankful to our longtime AAN artist member Jan Purdy Metcalf, who is our featured artist and has allowed us the use of one of her works for our publicity.

“AAN is pleased to be able to offer the community this opportunity to enjoy a bright spot in their holiday weekend, and we remain grateful to our artists for their participation in this new format, and of course to all those who are working so diligently to keep our island safe,” added Bridges.

Critical proceeds from this year’s reimagined auction will support the AAN’s artist memberships, arts program, gallery, and year-round public programs. The AAN is grateful to Wet Paint Chair Jill Vieth and the committee: Barbara Burke; Laurie Champion; Susan Coyne; Sandy Flavin; Darcy Fogg; Elle Foley; Sharon Wood Hussey; Andrew Kotchen; Jan Purdy Metcalf and Erika Christensen Scully.

And a very generous thank you to our Sponsor, BARTLETT’S FARM.
