About Us

Nantucket’s Unitarian Universalist congregation, the Second Congregational Society, gathers year-round on Sunday mornings at 10:45 for worship, music, and religious education at the historic Meeting House. Community concerts, adult education programs, and social events are scheduled throughout the year as well as many civic gatherings, community celebrations, and weddings. The Meeting House, sometimes called South Church by long-time Nantucketers, is located at 11 Orange Street. The congregation is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association, America’s most liberal religious denomination. The Unitarian Universalist faith has roots in the liberal Christian tradition and draws inspiration and insights from the world’s great religious traditions; literature, poetry, art, and music; political and cultural events of the day; the teachings of science and history; and the world of nature.
