The most important event put on by the Nantucket Arts Council each ear, the Nantucket Arts Festival showcases the breadth of talent cultivated by island artists during a one-week celebration in the fall. Literary talent and heritage is honored with readings by authors at the Atheneum and bookstores, the local stages are rarely dark with numerous shows and performances by theater groups and musicians, and the visual arts are well represented everywhere you turn. Nearly all events are free.
