Winter Speaker Series: Julia Blyth
The first lecturer of the Winter Speakers Series will be Julia Blyth, the Biological Collections Manager at the Maria Mitchell Association. She will be completing a professional specimen demonstration with specimen that were found here on Nantucket and will become a part of our biological collections. This demonstration will be projected across a screen with a go-pro so the audience can see her work being done in real time and up close. At the Maria Mitchell Association, Julia prepares specimens, maintains the collections, and carries out field research with Barn Owls, Ospreys, snakes, and American Burying Beetles. The Maria Mitchell Association has been carefully preserving and curating biological specimens from Nantucket Island for over a century. Julia has been adding to these collections for since 2011.
