Kitchen Garden Farm is a 50 acre certified organic farm based in Sunderland, MA owned and operated by Caroline Pam and Tim Wilcox since 2006. The farm produces organic specialty vegetables for wholesale across the Northeast and value-added products made with ingredients grown on the farm. The farm launched its Sriracha and Salsa product line at the Western Mass Food Processing Center and learned a lot about what works and doesn’t work in shared commercial kitchens during 5 years working there.
In 2019 Tim and Caroline designed and built a 2,800 square foot, FDA-inspected, on-farm food processing facility and quickly doubled production and added new products like Giardiniera, Passata, and dried chilies and herbs.
The farm now employs 20 year-round full time employees and KG products are sold in three regions of Whole Foods and at retailers in all 50 states. Value-added products make up more than half of the farm’s revenue but require only 20% of overall crop production. Infrastructure has been crucial to the farm’s success and Tim and Caroline love the creative process of identifying and implementing solutions with an emphasis on quality and quality of life.
