“James Beard: America’s First Foodie” Screening & Reception
We are pleased to present a special screening of "James Beard: America's First Foodie" with co-producers Elizabeth Federici and Kathleen Squires!
Join us for a cocktail reception before the screening of the film. There will be a Q+A following the film with Elizabeth and Kathleen.
Ticket includes film, drinks, light appetizers, and meet and greet with the producers.
About Elizabeth:
Elizabeth Federici is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and television producer. Most recently she directed, wrote and co-produced the feature documentary “James Beard: America’s First Foodie” which chronicles the life of the original titan of taste, James Beard. The film was co-produced with the PBS series American Masters and had its broadcast debut in May 2017 where it was seen by over a million viewers. The film was also awarded the audience award for Best Documentary at the 2017 Sonoma International Film Festival. Her 2010 feature documentary “Space, Land and Time: Underground Adventures with Ant Farm” premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival, and was awarded the 2010 Cine Golden Eagle Award. Her credits also include the documentary “Neither Here Nor There” (co-director/producer/editor) which was awarded the “Best of the Heartland” award at the Kansas City Film Festival and was broadcast on Missouri PBS. She also produced the award winning concert film “Bauhaus Gotham”. In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Beth is also a dedicated media educator, teaching media literacy theory and media production skills to students all over the country. She currently works as a freelance Producer and Director in Portland Oregon and was recently nominated for a NW Regional Emmy Award for her work for Oregon Public Broadcasting.
About Kathleen:
Kathleen Squires is a food and travel writer whose work has spanned book, blog, newsprint and glossy, appearing in The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine, Saveur, Conde Nast Traveler, Coastal Living and many other publications. She is the co-author of the cookbooks The Coolhaus Ice Cream Book; The Quick Six Fix; the IACP award-winning The Journey; and IACP-winning, James Beard Award-nominee The Book of Greens. In 2016, Kathleen was awarded first prize of Les Dames d’Escoffier International’s M. F. K. Fisher Award for Excellence in Culinary Writing. A resident of New York City for 30 years, Kathleen is the also the co-producer of the award-winning documentary film “James Beard: America’s First Foodie,” which aired on PBS’s American Masters in 2017.
