The 20th Annual Community reading of the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights, the traditional kick-off to Nantucket's celebration of Independence Day – right here in our historic Meeting House.

Sousa marches on the 1843 Goodrich Organ and a patriotic sing along ignite the spirit of the island’s holiday festivities.
A reading by this year’s high school winner of the Nantucket Atheneum, American Spirit Essay Contest sets the stage for the powerful reading of the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights
Children are invited to sign a replica of the Declaration; and a have a chance to ring in the 4th on the 1815 Portuguese bell in the Meeting House tower
Plan to come early and participate in this traditional family celebration reminding us of how our freedom and democracy began.
