Storefront Stories: Marina Morgan Marketing - Celebrating Women's History Month Spotlights

In honor of Women's History Month, we’re spotlighting #ACKChamber Women Owned Businesses! We asked Marina Jube of Marina Morgan Marketing a few questions, here are her answers!

Q: How has 2020 challenged you as a businesswoman, if at all?

A: Everyone is looking for new ways to bring their business into the 21st century, but they don’t necessarily have the budget for it. I’ve had to really learn more about who I am serving, what niches am I best with and how to utilize the resources around me. I think it has been great seeing people actually want a digital presence, especially the small businesses who haven’t in the past and I am excited to be able to help more businesses grow and succeed in 2021!

Q: What are the pros and cons of being a female entrepreneur in 2021?

A: Pros, there is so much more room for everyone to join the table. There will always be the people (including women) who don’t want you there and aren’t afraid to make that known, but more so than ever, we are in a state of sharing the wealth because we all can’t do it all. Supporting each other has never been more important

Cons, the market can be very saturated. People are willing to offer cheap and quick results versus sustainable lasting growth and success. People see a dollar sign and pick the smallest right now. I hope in 2021 we see people understanding the value of their services.

Q: What tips or advice do you have for other women wanting to start their own business?

A: Where there is a will, there is a way! Take advantage of the opportunities around you and utilize the resources you have. Learn from everyone and everything, you never know it all and don’t be afraid to admit that. That is when you actually learn.

Q: What mantra do you live by?

A: Start every day by making your bed. There is a very well known video of an Admiral giving a graduation speech called, “If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed”. This has always been one of my favorite things to watch. I suggest everyone watch it, but to give the gist, start the day by making your bed. If you make your bed in the morning you have accomplished the first task of the day. One task completed turns into many tasks completed. It shows that the little things matter and if you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right. If you had a bad day? You’re coming home to a made bed which gives hope that tomorrow will be better.

Q: How do you balance owning a business and your personal life?

A: I have always been known for doing too much. I love what I do so I like to keep taking on more and more. I love learning new things, so I’m always ready to jump on to the next challenge. BUT 2020 has taught me a lot. Work will still be there tomorrow, but your loved ones may not. Make sure you take time for your friends, family and yourself. Be as productive as you can during a set time and then use the rest of the time for things that bring you joy.

Q: Who is the most influential woman in your life?

A: It might sound cheesy to say, but my mom was a huge influence in my life. She was someone who taught me the value of hard work, to kill people with kindness, how to stretch a dollar, amongst many other things. She always told me I was going to be successful, I didn’t even know what I wanted to do, but that didn’t stop her from saying it. I’ve worked hard, took more chances, and helped others where I could because of her.

Q: Why do you think it is important to support other women?

A: You should be finding ways to support each other, not tear each other down. One of my favorite quotes is that a rising tide lifts all boats. Our job is to help raise the tide, not only for our own benefit, but for the benefit of others. Women supporting women isn’t going anywhere. If we stick together we can really build the foundation for something amazing. Not to mention, WE CAN NOT DO IT ALL. There are not enough hours in the day to do it all, no matter who you are. Support someone else, especially a woman, while making your life a little easier and a little better. If you support another woman, it will come back to you one way or another. I believe in Karma.

Q:  What can we expect next from you?

A: I am actually working on some new exciting things for 2021! I will be launching a course focused on helping small businesses with social media and working to offer new services and as always, improve my original services.
