Nantucket’s 43rd Annual Daffodil Festival Weekend (April 28-30) went off without a hitch… or with a hitch, if you consider the 100+ brilliantly festooned antique automobiles (and 2 motorcycles!) gracing the Main Street cobblestones for the weekend’s central event. Teeming crowds of locals and visitors alike welcomed  Spring in glorious fashion, with chapeaus, doorways, pets, Packards….and more… bedecked in every shade of scintillating YELLOW in homage to the sunny “signature” bulb growing  in wild profusion on  our diminutive island.
This wacky and wonderful welcome to warmer weather kicks off a  flurry of festivals to round out the months of May and June.  Oenophiles  flock to our shores for Wine Festival Weekend (May 17-21) to celebrate—and sample—the  fruit of the vine .  Highlighted by a Harbor Gala, Grand Tastings and informative seminars hosted by notables  in the world  of food and wine, this event is not to be missed!   Cruise over  for  Spring Restaurant Week (June 5-11) when a number of acclaimed island restaurants offer attractively priced prix fixe  menus to  showcase their formidable culinary talent.  Nantucket Book Festival  (June 16-18)—a  celebration of literature, community and the written word—features  renowned literary figures, a cornucopia  of  lectures, staged readings, and meet-the-author events; this multi-faceted festival welcomes Alice Hoffman, Jodi Picoult, Robert Pinsky and others this year.  From June 21-26, the wildly popular Nantucket Film Festival  delivers a variety of  eclectic  first-run movies  to our shores.  An homage to the screenwriter’s craft, this six-day event  features Late Night Storytelling, staged readings, “Morning Coffee With” and a glittering Screenwriter’s Tribute –attended by locals and luminaries alike—at the ‘Sconset Casino
