Where should I stay on Nantucket?
Nantucket offers a rich diversity of accommodations ranging from full-service resorts to quaint bed and breakfasts. While there are close to 900 rooms available there is also the option of renting a private home independently or through a real estate agent. Do I need a car on Nantucket?
It is not necessary to bring a car to Nantucket. Bicycles are popular means of transportation, and there are paved bike paths leading to all ends of the island. Rental vehicles and taxis are also available, and the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority island wide seasonal shuttle service.Traffic congestion is a growing concern among visitors and residents alike. Fewer cars on Nantucket's streets and roads will mean more tranquil vacation experiences.

What are the ferry schedules
to Nantucket?
Three different ferries service Nantucket Island. The Steamship Authority carries passengers, bikes, cars, and trucks year-round (508-477-8600, TDD 508-540-1394, www.steamshipauthority.com) and has a hi-speed catamaran (508-495-3278). Hy-Line Cruises carries passengers and bikes on ferries from May through October and on a year-round high-speed catamaran (508-778-2600, www.hy-linecruises.com). Freedom Cruise Line carries passengers and bikes from May through October (508-432-8999, www.nantucketislandferry.com).
Directions to Hyannis, MA:
From New York City: Approximately 270 miles; 4-5 hours. Follow route 95 to Providence, RI; Route 195 to Wareham, MA; Route 25 over the Bourne Bridge; Route 6 to Exit #6; Route 132 into Hyannis. Follow signs to airport or docks.
From Boston: Approximately 80 miles; 1.5 hours. Follow Route 3 (Southeast Expressway); Route 6 over the Sagamore Bridge; Route 132 into Hyannis; follow signs to airport or docks.
