Planning Ahead: Venues & Accommodations What makes Nantucket a distinctive location for dream weddings can also present inherent challenges. Guest lodging, as well as venue space and church are important to arrange well in advance. (Twelve months ahead is strongly advised, depending on the size of your wedding and time of year you wish to have it.) Many couples visit the island during that time to meet vendors and get a sense of the venues and accommodation options available. (Please consult the accommodations section for suggestions).

It’s All Here! Any vendor you may need for your wedding day is located on the island. Experienced event planners and wedding consultants, caterers, floristsmusicians and entertainmenttent and equipment rentals, photographers, wedding favors and gift baskets, jewelers, salon services, transportation, as well as churches who open their doors for you on your special day are available to assist you in planning. Many of these professionals have worked together for years and are the perfect Nantucket resource for suggestions and tips on effortlessly organizing your wedding day.

Island Touches: Incorporating the island’s rich heritage and culture into your special day adds a memorable touch. Flower girls carrying lightship baskets, the use of blue hydrangeas in a bouquet, or even bridal photos at Brant Point Lighthouse (ask permission from the Coast Guard first!) all reflect the distinctiveness of a Nantucket wedding. Including the Chamber of Commerce’s Official Guide in your guests’ welcome baskets is always a nice touch!
