Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce!
Our application process is as follows: The application must be submitted with payment (which is not deposited or charged until Board approval). The annual dues investment schedule is included in the membership application. Your application is submitted for approval to our Board of Directors at their monthly meeting, after which you will receive a welcoming letter, dues receipt, and window decal. Currently, Board of Directors meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. Please return the application, by the last day of the month prior to the board meeting in which you would like to apply.
It is important to fill out the application thoroughly, especially the top of page two, as the Chamber board examines each application carefully. Please keep in mind the following information taken from the Chamber’s bylaws:
Article 3: Section 1 of the Bylaws: Eligibility. Any business or professional organization or sole proprietorship, and any employee of such organization or sole proprietorship, regardless of place of residence, known to be favorably interested in the purposes of the Chamber and who adheres to generally accepted good business practices, shall be eligible for membership, subject to acceptance in each case by the Board.
Article 2: Section 1 of the Bylaws: Object and Purpose. The object and purpose of the chamber will be, in general, to develop, encourage, promote, and protect commercial, resort, recreational, historical, industrial, agricultural, professional, financial and general business interest of the Island of Nantucket; to promote the civic interests and general welfare of the community; to foster, develop and protect the industry of the Island; to encourage the development of the transportation and communications facilities and various resources to the Island; and to aid in procuring laws and regulations desirable for the benefit of business in general.
This is an exciting time to join the 600 island businesses in our membership! We would welcome any input you might like to share with us and we hope you’ll become active on our various committees – it is a great way to participate in your Chamber.
NOTE: Like most local Chambers, the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce has no affiliation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Our revenue is derived from membership dues and fees from membership events.
