2013 Business Workshops & Seminars


January 8 & 15,  9 & 16- Goal Planning 2013 for Business Leaders, Entrepreneurs, and Go-Getters- Start your new year right! These two-part workshops are designed to help you set the right goals that will kick your year into motion! Each workshop is comprised of two one-hour working sessions, one week apart. You will work on YOUR own goals, not be lectured on the art of goal setting. By the end of the final session, you'll leave with a clear path for success in 2013, whether business, personal or professional. Priced at only $20 for Chamber members ($30 after January 4), we want to help you succeed. Choose the workshop that best fits your schedule, and register by clicking here. January 11- SCORE Business Counseling Sessions- On Friday, January 11th a SCORE business counselor will be providing in person counseling to Nantucket entrepreneurs and small business owners at the Chamber's office. There is no charge for SCORE's counseling services. To make an appointment with a SCORE counselor to discuss your business ideas, to get assistance with specific business problems, or to address other issues associated with starting or growing your business, please call Alyssa Corry at the Chamber 508-228-1700.  One hour appointments all day long from 9AM-4PM.

January 24- Small Business Advisories return with Tammi Jacobsen from MA Small Business Development Center
Tammi returns with her free one-on-one business counseling sessions. These are comprehensive and confidential services focusing on, business growth and strategies, financing and loan assistance as well as strategic, marketing and operational analysis. Sessions last one hour, 9:30AM-3:30PM, please call the Chamber to sign up as these appointments fill up quickly.

 February 13- The SMART Leader Workshop- Presented by NICC and The Egan Group is a full day program designed for business leaders who want to take their leadership skills to the next level. Our core modules are designed to sharpen and re-energize your currently high performing leadership which will bolster your organization's overall performance. 8:30AM-12PM/1:00-4:30PM.

March 12 - Managing Your Online Reputation: Worried about a few bad Tweets? You should be. How online and social media can help (or hurt) your company’s reputation. Whether you know it or not, people are rating your business on Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google Places, Facebook, Twitter, and a host of other sites. It’s nice to read a positive review, but what happens when someone has a bad experience with your organization? It’s a fact—an unhappy customer will tell far more people than a happy one. In today’s mobile world, people can start talking before the transaction is complete! If you aren’t monitoring your business reputation, you’re missing opportunities to turn those unhappy customers into advocates. April 2- Social Media Strategies & Trends for 2013:
Having an online presence is extremely important to your business success. Today, the Yellow Pages is a Google search. Learn about important social media strategies and trends for 2013. We will discuss: Websites and Blogs Social Networks – what works and what is new (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter VS Google+, Pinterest, Instagram) Personal and business branding – Consistency in messaging The Cloud, Mobile, Texting, QR Codes and beyond… We will also investigate what the social media gurus see in the future! April 9- Financial Optimization for the Non-Profit Organization: Time is money—even for non-profits. Optimize! Learn best financial and accounting practices for a more efficient organization. For any company, having the tools to understand and manage your finances is the key to success. However, as a non-profit, you have the added benefit of tax exemption, deductions, applying for public and private grants, in addition to employing volunteers. May 21- SBA Resources for Small Businesses: We like to call the result that happens when local economy thrives from the achievement of small business, and small business achievement is supported by the local economy the Circle of Success. Small businesses are vital to helping our local economy grow and flourish, but most of the time they need a little boost to get started. Securing capital can be one of the biggest challenges for early stage businesses, but thankfully, there are plenty of resources and options through the Small Business Administration and its Certified Development Corporations. With historically low rates and a variety of free business resources, make sure you come to this workshop to learn all the options that are available for you and your business and keep the Circle of Success in motion! 3:15-5:15 PM.
